Your Primary Care Physician:
Your personal physician is a valuable resource in your efforts to quit smoking. Make an appointment with him/her to discuss smoking cessation options and the nicotine replacement therapy that might be right for you.
The nursing staff at UPMC Chautauqua WCA is among the first in New York State to take part in a new program designed to urge smokers to quit the habit. The new program is called the "2 Minute Intervention" or the Five-A's:
- Ask * Ask the patient about tobacco use,
- Advise * Advise the patient to quit,
- Assess * Assess the patient's willingness to quit,
- Assist * Assist in the quit attempt,
- Arrange * Arrange for the patient follow-up.
Tobacco Cessation Counseling
Classes are led by tobacco cessation counselors certified by the American Lung Association and are aimed at helping people who are ready to quit tobacco use.

- INDIVIDUALS: one-on-one counseling sessions
UPMC Chautauqua WCA Baby and Me Tobacco Free Program - The Baby and Me Tobacco Free Program helps pregnant moms quit tobacco use during their pregnancy and after their delivery. Moms are seen four sessions prior to delivery and once a month for 12 months after delivery. If they remain tobacco free after delivery they will receive a voucher for free box of diapers on a monthly basis for up to one year.

Body Composition Testing
The Body Composition test is used to measure the amount of lean body mass (muscle), body fat and water an individual possesses. The test is based on electrical resistance through the tissues of the body.
