Leadership Message

2016 was an historic year for our hospital and health care across this region. On December 1, 2016, WCA Hospital and UPMC (University of Pittsburgh Medical Center) were pleased to announce WCA’s integration into the UPMC system, becoming UPMC Chautauqua WCA. This important decision to integrate into UPMC was a remarkable five-year journey, designed to assure residents that health care continues to be strong in this region and to serve our communities well over the long term to provide access into a world-class academic medical center.

With UPMC, we have a partner that will invest $90 million dollars which will lead to a long-term sustainability plan as well as capital investment for this hospital. Additionally, we have a partner that will enhance access and convenience to local health care and expand accessibility of top-rated, specialty services for our patients.

Together, with UPMC and UPMC Hamot, we will enhance and add services and programs.  Our shared commitment to build a robust, viable health system is vital because we care about this community and want to be sure residents continue to have access to high-quality health care. We have already begun to share our strengths and resources to advance patient care, retain and recruit outstanding physicians, and upgrade our facilities and infrastructure. We look forward to the days and months ahead as we enhance and enrich the health care infrastructure and community relationships not only in Jamestown, but throughout Chautauqua County.

For the leaders, physicians, employees, and volunteers who bring their talents and compassion to the hospital every day; for the countless donors who support the hospital’s mission; for our health partners and business community  who understand the economic importance of a stable local health care system; and, for the hundreds of thousands of people who deserve high-quality access to health care, this was a year to celebrate.  As we enter a new and exciting chapter in our history, we are reminded that we are 131 years strong and growing stronger each day. Our strength as an institution will continue to be fostered upon the vitality of this region and the enduring ties that bind us together.
