CRECHE DONATIONS BENEFIT YOUNG PATIENTS AT WCA
Mrs. Patricia Phillips, Crèche Hospital Committee Chair, and Crèche volunteers Mrs. Sandy Calalesina, and Mrs. Tiffany MacCallum, present WCA Hospital Department Managers with numerous gift donations that benefit newborns and children admitted to WCA Hospital.
Jamestown, NY (Monday, March 9, 2009)-Members of the Crèche, Inc. Hospital Committee recently donated medical equipment and hundreds of patient items that benefit newborns and children of all ages admitted to WCA Hospital. The donation is part of Crèche's pledge to give back to the community and improve the health and well being of young children in Chautauqua County.
"We are truly grateful to Crèche for their commitment to improving the lives of our young patients," said Betsy T. Wright, FACHE, WCA Hospital President/CEO. "Thanks to the overwhelming support and spirit of giving from our community, we continue to provide award-winning care that strengthens the health and well-being of those we serve. We sincerely thank Crèche for partnering in our mission."
The Crèche donations included: state-of-the-art non-invasive thermometer for children admitted to the Emergency department; pediatric thermometer utilized for young patients diagnosed with heart disease; Nintendo Wii to teach children social skills; Jr. Arcade Basketball game, Plug and Play TV/Video games, DVD/VHS player, Play Station, age-appropriate toys, board games, sweat suits, football, basketball, backboard and hoop for children admitted to the Adolescent Mental Health programs; activity games and videos that teach children proper nutritional skills; crafts, games and communication game sets for WCA Recreation Therapy Program; DVD/VHS player, Pediatric High Alert Medications education reference; pinwheels, gowns, and baby rattles; clocks, and postpartum educational literature for new moms and newborns; and VDV/VHS player and Learning comprehension & Oral Expression Scales for school age children to aid in hearing tests.

Hospital Committee Chair. "We realize that a hospital admission can be stressful and we want to help make the child's stay as comfortable as possible. We are proud to be part of a community that is willing to give so generously to support the critical work being done at WCA."
For more than a century, Crèche has raised money to provide for needy children in Chautauqua County. Every year, in addition to helping needy children in the greater Jamestown area, the Crèche Hospital Committee helps fulfill wishes from child-related departments at WCA.
"Crèche has created a legacy that continues to support us in caring for children and their families," said Mary Sue Pawlak, R.N., and Nurse Manager on the Pediatric Care Unit of WCA. "It is through their dedication and generosity that we are able to provide an extraordinary patient experience in an atmosphere of warmth and compassion for our young patients."
