Jamestown, New York (Monday, January 18, 2010)—For a third time, Dr. Virginia Campion, board certified pediatrician, on staff at WCA Hospital, has been chosen as one of “America’s Top Doctor” in Western New York by the Buffalo Spree Magazine (January/February 2010 Edition). Dr. Campion joins Thomas Andrews, M.D. Obstetrician and Gynecologist at Lane Women’s Health Group, and Daniel Glotzer, M.D., FACS, General and Vascular Surgeon and a physician member of Jamestown Area Medical Associates, LLP (JAMA) as top docs in Western New York.

America’s Top Doctors® list will appear in the January/February 2010 issue of the Buffalo Spree Magazine. The doctors were chosen by their peers, based primarily for their excellence in patient care through Castle Connolly’s surveying and research methods. Survey respondents were asked to nominate peer physicians to whom they would send members of their family. The selected physicians are recognized experts in the fields of obstetrician and gynecology, surgery and pediatrics.

Dr. Campion is a representative of the more than 100 physicians on the medical staff at WCA Hospital.

Virginia Campion, M.D., a native of Williamsville, New York, received her medical degree from State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in Buffalo, New York. She completed a pediatric residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, and is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. Her medical practice is located at Jamestown Pediatric Associates located on 816 Fairmount Avenue, Jamestown, New York. Dr. Campion and her husband, Dr. James Campion, reside in Jamestown, with their 3 children.

This is the third time Buffalo Spree has published a list of top doctors in Western New York. Every year, city/regional magazines throughout the United States provide these lists as an important service to their readers. Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. provides the list.

Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., a physician-led team of researchers, followed a rigorous screening process to select top doctors on both the national and regional levels. Using mail surveys, telephone surveys and electronic ballots, the research team asked board certified physicians and the medical leadership of leading hospitals to nominate highly skilled, exceptional doctors. Criteria developed by the Castle Connolly research team led to the final selection of those physicians most highly regarded by their peers in each specialty. The criteria used to determine physician eligibility for inclusion in the magazine: professional qualifications; education, residency, board certification, fellowships; professional reputation, hospital appointment, medical school faculty appointment, and experience. The physicians are grouped alphabetically by specialty and alphabetically within each specialty.

“It is our mission to always celebrate the best that Western New York has to offer and this includes publishing the Western New York portion of America’s Top Doctors® list so that our readers can take advantage of the valuable resource it offers,” said Barbara E. Macks, Vice President Buffalo Spree Publishing, Inc.
