Jamestown, New York (Thursday, January 7, 2016)—With a recent cancer diagnosis of a coworker, Serta Mattress came together to raise funds for local breast cancer treatment. They saw the importance of giving back to their own community and thought it would be a great way to involve the entire company. So, they had a fundraiser and raised $364 in support of their friend and co-worker, Lori Radack. “We have Pink Day annually during Breast Cancer Awareness month and had this annual fundraiser planned for October anyway, but when I announced my diagnosis I think everyone was more supportive and more aware because now they know someone touched by cancer. So, in a way it was already planned, I just added my story to the mix and it made it more personal,” stated Lori.

And it was personal. People couldn’t be more pleased to announce their dedication and commitment to support Lori with wearing pink and continuing their tradition. Lori reached out to WCA Hospital to Megan D’Angelo, WCA Director of Development and asked where WCA’s Cancer Treatment Center could use the funds. “It just happened that the television set that was out in the main lobby for the patients had just broken, so it couldn’t have been better timing,” stated Megan. “When people go in for their treatment, there will be a plaque stating the television set was made possible by supporters working at Serta Mattress. We are so honored that our community stands beside one another and supports those in need.”
