Lakewood, NY (Sunday, February 19, 2017)—SOUPer Bowl Sunday VI, which took place on January 29 at the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club was a great success. Thanks to another record-setting attendance, sponsors and organizers UPMC Chautauqua WCA, WCA Foundation, Media One Group, Maplevale Farms, and the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club raised $8,000 in support of Robotic Surgery at UPMC Chautauqua WCA and The Rapaport Fund at WCA Foundation.

In addition to music provided by DJ’s Unlimited, this family-friendly event featured fifteen homemade soups created and served by fourteen local restaurants and caterers. All attendees were invited to vote for their favorite homemade soup.

Emerging victorious and named “Favorite Soup” of SOUPer Bowl Sunday VI was Game Time Sports Bar and Grill with their classic take on a fan favorite. Finishing in a very close second was Elegant Edibles and Lakewood Rod & Gun Club. All of the participants made exceptional delicious soups, and all of them were very close in winning in the end. The other participants in random order included: Vern’s Place, Red Lobster, Tarmac Café, B&B Caterers, Nic L Inn, Webb’s Captain’s Table, Lori’s Kountry Kafe, Wing City Grille, Prime Steakhouse and Lakewood Diner (formerly known as Mindy’s Place).

“This was a fantastic event with a response that exceeded all of our expectations,” says Megan Barone, UPMC Chautauqua WCA and WCA Foundation director of development. “We could not be more grateful to Media One, the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, Maplevale Farms, and all of the restaurants and caterers for sharing their valuable time and exceptional talents with our community to benefit the patients we serve. It was remarkably special that local organizations and businesses supported UPMC Chautauqua WCA with donations for the basket raffle. We would like to extend an appreciation to Mary Rapaport and Jessica Bianchi for spearheading the basket raffle efforts.”

All of the proceeds from this year’s SOUPer Bowl Sunday will benefit robotic surgery at UPMC Chautauqua WCA and The Rapaport Fund at WCA Foundation. This charitable event has raised $34,000 in total.
