Jamestown, New York (Thursday, May 25, 2017)— The 4th Annual Vince Messina Memorial Golf Tournament took place Saturday (May 20) at Conewango Valley Country Club in Warren, PA, an 18 hole championship golf course, originally designed by Donald Ross.

First place went to the team of Tim D’Angelo, Todd D’Angelo, Tom D’Angelo and Joe Traniello with a score of 58. George Adams, Mike Ball, Joe Bellitto and Joe Gerstel came in second place, and third place consisted of team members Dr. Chris Colosimo, Dr. Scott McKimm, Fred Colosimo and Aaron Palumbo. Fourth place spot went to the team of Rob Bender, Greg Bender, Shane Swan, and Gene Swan. In the Co-Ed Net Division, first place went to the team of Keith Martin, Kelly Dawson, Ricci D’Angelo, and Randy Marsh with a score of 65.

“We are so appreciative of all the hard work and dedication that goes into this tournament, and we are elated that the community came together once again to support such a worthy cause,” said Kathy Messina, committee member and wife of the late Vince Messina. “We could not have done it without all of the local businesses who donated in-kind donations or hole sponsor support. ACME the Appliance store and Dan Hocking, the owner went above and beyond and donated a 50 inch smart television set.”

Community members and local businesses made this tournament successful with their support of donations and sponsorships. The golfers enjoyed a great meal at Conewango Country Club.  It was truly a day to remember, and the funds raised greatly surpassed the committees expectations.  Special kudos and gratitude was extended to chair of the 2017 golf tournament, Jim Pullan, and committee members, dedicated to honoring Vince’s legacy.

The tournament featured a four-person, net handicap golf scramble format and proceeds will grow the Vincent A. Messina Memorial Scholarship Fund at the WCA Foundation to provide scholarships for students of the UPMC Chautauqua WCA School of Radiology. Since the tournament’s inception four years ago, the committee has been able to raise more than 70,000 to support the endowment fund at WCA Foundation. The third scholarship award will be given at the UPMC Chautauqua WCA School of Radiologic Technology during their Commencement Ceremonies on the 8th of June 2017.
