Mike Roberts, Charity Golf Classic Chair, and other members from Moon Brook Country Club present Betsy Wright, President and CEO of Hospital, with a $2,500 check representing proceeds from the 2009 Moon Brook Charity Golf Classic to support WCA’s capital campaign for its new Emergency Department.

Jamestown, New York (Tuesday, June 29, 1010)– On June 21, Moon Brook Country Club hosted the annual Moon Brook Charity Golf Classic, a Pro-Am golf tournament featuring the top fifteen golfing professionals in Western New York.

“It was a great day of golf with beautiful weather on the best golf course in Western New York,” explains Mike Roberts, 2010 Chair of the Moon Brook Charity Golf Classic. “Everyone had a greet time, and at the end of the day, we were able to support a very important cause in our community – a much-needed, new Emergency Department at our community hospital.”

A portion of the proceeds ($2,500) from last year’s tournament were given to WCA Hospital to support the Sharing the Gift of Health capital campaign for WCA’s new Emergency Department.

“We are so grateful to Moon Brook Country Club and the Pro Am Committee for choosing to benefit our vital capital campaign,” states Betsy T. Wright, President and CEO of WCA Hospital. “Generous community leaders and outstanding organizations like Moon Brook are prime examples of what makes our community special.”

WCA’s 21st Century Emergency Department

Featuring twenty-eight private treatment rooms and two private triage rooms, the new 18,000 square foot Emergency Department will maintain and enhance the quality of care for which WCA Hospital is nationally recognized. It will meet the present day and the increasing future volume demands of the Jamestown area. This 21st-century Emergency Department will minimize patient waiting and treatment times, decrease throughput and admission times, improve efficiency and collaboration, and enhance physician recruitment efforts.

With construction slated to begin later this year, WCA Hospital expects to gain valuable space and privacy, and overall improvement in patient experiences. The new Emergency Department is designed to support additional floors above as WCA positions itself to complete overall campus consolidation in the years to come.

To date, WCA has secured $12 M toward the campaign’s $16.5 M capital campaign goal and is accepting gifts and pledges payable through 2013.  For more information, please visit
