WCA Welcomes New Hospitalist

Jamestown, New York (Wednesday, December 22, 2010)—WCA Hospital officials welcome Ohigbai Egwaikhide, MD, board certified in internal medicine, full-time hospitalist who recently joined the medical staff at WCA.  As a hospitalist, Dr. Egwaikhide treats patients who are admitted to the hospital. 

The WCA Hospitalist Program is under the Medical Director of Jonathan Blasius, MD, board certified in internal medicine, full-time hospitalist on staff at WCA Hospital.

“We are very pleased to welcome Dr. Egwaikhide,” said Betsy T. Wright, WCA Hospital President/CEO.  “We are continually growing and evolving to better meet the needs of our patients and their families.  One of our innovative approaches to healthcare is the WCA Hospitalist Program which gives patients admitted to the hospital immediate and easy access to trusted inpatient care.”

Hospital-based physicians, referred to as Hospitalists, provide treatment and care to patients during the course of their hospital stay.  WCA’s Hospitalists are highly qualified in their area of expertise and function as valuable partners with community physicians.

“We work with the patient’s primary care provider throughout the course of the patient’s hospital stay to ensure clear communication and continuity of care,” said Dr. Jonathan Blasius.  “We devote 100 percent of our time to the patient’s every need during their hospital stay to assure a smooth and speedy recovery from beginning to end.”

Dr. Egwaikhide received his medical degree from Medical College of Jagiellonian University and completed his residency in combined internal medicine and pediatrics from Hurley Medical Center Michigan State University.

“We specialize in hospitalized patients, serving as a comforting voice for you and your family while you are in the hospital,” said Dr. Blasius.
