WCA Hospital Raising the Beam for New Emergency Department

The actual steel beam that will be raised during WCA Hospital’s Raising the Beam to Realize Our Dream ceremony this Tuesday is currently on display under a tent next to the hospital’s main entrance where the public is invited to join the WCA Family in signing the beam.

Jamestown, New York (Friday, September 23, 2010)—On Tuesday, September 27th, WCA Hospital is raising the final steel beam is raised into place for our community hospital’s new Emergency Department, and everyone is invited to join in the celebration.  The event, entitled Raising the Beam to Realize Our Dream, will celebrate construction progress and give thanks to the many individuals, businesses, organizations, and foundations that have made construction possible by financially supporting WCA’s capital campaign.

The program begins at 2:00 p.m. and will take place on Prather Avenue and the Outpatient Parking Lot across from the site of the new Emergency Department, with refreshments to follow.

To help commemorate the occasion, the public is also invited to join the WCA Family in signing the actual beam being used in Tuesday’s ceremony. This ten-foot beam has been painted and bears the WCA Hospital logo and Sharing the Gift of Health campaign logo along with the event slogan – Raising the Beam to Realize Our Dream. This beam is currently on display under a tent provided by Jamestown Awning in front of the hospital beside the main visitor’s entrance.  The community is invited to stop by WCA and sign the beam through Monday, September 26.

Emergency Department Construction

WCA Hospital’s 21st-century Emergency Department is now under full construction and expected to be open in 2012. With great advances in space and privacy, WCA Hospital’s new 18,000 square foot Emergency Department will dramatically improve the overall patient experience.

To date, WCA has reached the 85% mark by securing $14 M toward the $16.5 M capital campaign goal and is accepting gifts and pledges payable through 2013.
