Public Invited to WCA Emergency Department Grand Opening

Jamestown, New York (Thursday, September 20, 2012)—The public is invited to the Grand Opening celebration of the “new” 21st Century Emergency Department at WCA Hospital in Jamestown, on Sunday, September 23, from 12:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.  The public is encouraged to use the WCA Hospital visiting parking lot located on Foote Avenue & Prather Avenue.  The local Civil Air Patrol cadets will assist with guest parking during the Grand Opening.  Handicap parking available.

Grand opening activities will begin at 12:30 p.m.  The community is invited to join Betsy T. Wright, WCA Hospital President/CEO, for an official Dedication Ceremony just outside the “new” WCA Hospital Emergency Department Entrance on Sherman Street and Prather Avenue.  From 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., parents and their children will enjoy a Teddy Bear Clinic and Kids Activity Center hosted by WCA and Creche; guests can enjoy open house and self-guided walking tours; meet local artists Charlene Kidder and William Disbro whose artwork will be unveiled during grand opening; meet the emergency department physicians and staff who will guide guests through the 18,000-square-foot, one-of-a-kind Emergency Center.

Live music will be provided by Bill Ward, singer/songwriter, local accordion musician, Joseph Iuculano, and Rhonda Schwob, Scottish bag pipper.  Guests will receive “complimentary” commemorative gifts and enjoy appetizers and hor d’oeuvres and refreshments.

The opening of the new Emergency Department facility is a significant milestone in the 127-year history of the hospital.  “After several years of strategic planning, hard work and perseverance to the pursuit of patient excellence and service, we are very excited and pleased to invite our guests to preview our “new” 21st Century Emergency Department which will serve as a critical and vital part of our community and the economy of the entire Chautauqua County Region,” said Betsy T. Wright, WCA Hospital President/CEO.

WCA Hospital’s Emergency Department is recognized as one of the busiest in the area, serving more than 37,000 patients annually and growing.  The 18,000-square-foot Emergency Department will provide emergency excellence in a patient-centered environment that is designed to be private, spacious, comfortable, and technologically advanced.

The new Emergency Department at WCA Hospital will open and be operational soon after the Grand Opening celebration.  “This milestone event in the history of WCA would not have been possible without our supportive, caring and charitable individuals, foundations, businesses, organizations and hospital family who have come together to provide excellence in emergency care and service,” Mrs. Wright said.  “We are truly grateful.”
