LINKS Charity Hosts "Live & Silent" Auction To Benefit Local Cancer Care August 6

Jamestown, New York (Tuesday, July 31, 2012)—On Monday, August 6th the LINKS Charity Pro-Am Golf Tournament committee members will host their Annual LINKing Together LIVE & Silent Auction &Dinner to be held at Moon Brook Country Club, Jamestown, from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.  Items will be available for preview and silent auction bidding starting at 6:00 p.m.  Tickets to the event are $50 per person and available at the door or by calling (716) 661-1265.

One of the area’s leading auctioneers, Charles Ludwig, will host the “live” portion of the auction.

Proceeds from the Auction and banquet will support LINKS Charity’s new three-year, $300,000 pledge toward the purchase of 3-D Breast Imaging Tomosynthesis—a powerful diagnostic tool in the early detection of breast cancer.  The new technology compliments LINKS Charity’s most recent gift of $275,000 toward the full-field Digital Mammography which is currently operational at the Center For Imaging & Medical Arts at WCA.

The event will include remarks from guest speaker, Lyndon Gritters, M.D., board-certified radiologist on staff at WCA Hospital, and a breast cancer survivor testimonial.

The Links Charity Pro-AM will again involve 25 members of the LPGA teaming up with four amateurs to form 25 teams.  They will tee off with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 6.  This year’s event will mark the Charity’s 21st anniversary with total proceeds topping nearly 1 million dollars.

All proceeds from the auction and dinner will be earmarked for LINKS Charity’s new $300,000 pledge toward a new, state-of-the-art 3D Breast Imaging Tomosynthesis technology which produces a 3D view of breast tissue to improve breast-cancer screening and gives physicians a clearer view through the overlapping structures of breast tissue.  Tomosynthesis helps radiologists pinpoint size, shape, and location of breast abnormalities.
