Jamestown, New York (Wednesday, August 21, 2013)—The Marie Barone Memorial Women’s Golf Tournament Committee announced that their 19th annual tournament, which was held on June 24th at South Hills Country Club, raised a record $13,000 in support of local women’s cancer care at WCA Hospital.

“Thanks to a record number of golfers, very generous donors, and our first major sponsor (ALSTAR EMS), we raised $3,000 more than we ever have before,” explains Patty Hurtack, daughter of the late Marie Barone and Tournament Chair. “We are proud that every dollar we raised stays here and supports our community hospital and the women who will battle cancer.”

Since 1995, more than $130,000 has been raised by this annual tournament. For the third year in a row, all of the proceeds from this charity golf tournament will grow the Marie Barone Memorial Fund, an endowment fund at the WCA Foundation which will be utilized to assist in the diagnosis, care, and treatment of local female cancer patients at WCA Hospital.

To make a gift to support the growth of the Marie Barone Memorial Fund, please make checks payable to: WCA Foundation, and mail your tax-deductible gift to: P.O. Box 840, Jamestown, New York 14702-0840.
