Area artists, Andy and Dan Swackhammer, will present, “Beautiful Americana”, a photograph exhibition of their works during the WCA Center For Orthopedics, Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation OPEN HOUSE, Sunday, April 21, Noon – 3 p.m. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

Jamestown, New York (Friday, April 12, 2013)—“Beautiful Americana”, an exhibition of 25 photographs by area artists, Andy Palermo and Daniel Swackhammer, will be on display during the WCA Center For Orthopedics, Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation Open House to be held on Sunday, April 21, 2013, from Noon to 3:00 p.m. The Orthopedic Center is located directly behind WCA Hospital, 31 Sherman Street Building, Jamestown.  Follow the Open House signs.  Convenient front door event parking is available.

A collection of photographic works will adorn the first and second floor of the new Complex.  The artists will explore their personal vision of the Western and Central New York and the beautiful Americana surroundings in an exhibition that will include 25 photography images.

Andy’s photography has been displayed in several local galleries.  Palermo’s images consist principally of architecture and landscapes. The Jamestown area—in particular the downtown area—is where a vast majority of his inspiration comes from. Using film and digital mediums, he creates a ‘timeless’ emotion in his photographs.  Andy employs different angles during his photography shoots that capture a one-of-a-kind, unique perspective to the observer.

Andy, a Jamestown native, is a graduate of Johnson and Wales University in Denver, Colorado, earned an Associate degree in Culinary Arts.  After returning to Jamestown, he has been employed at several area restaurants including the Roberto’s at the Ironstone Restaurant, where he served as Head Chef.

Andy’s mother, Mrs. Bernie Palermo, is a long-time and devoted volunteer at WCA Hospital.

Local Artist, Daniel Swackhammer, will display his photograph images capturing Western and Central New York. Swackhammer’s style of photography is most often described as ‘painterly’, the result of specialized shooting and processing using a variety of software applications. These efforts produce a photograph that has more details than a normal painting and a color and feel not often seen in an average photograph. The process is most apparent in images that include the sky and water where one simply wonders how such details could be captured.

Dan was raised in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area, but has been a long-time resident of Jamestown, New York. He has worked in the communications field as a Director of programs and commercials in Erie, Pennsylvania, and Jamestown, New York, including a local radio announcer and communications instructor at Jamestown Community College. Over the past 25 years, he has worked in marketing and management with the local cable provider and more recently, as the owner and operator of Wireless Zone - Verizon Wireless in the Chautauqua Mall.

Dan’s work is represented locally at the Art loft Gallery in Chautauqua and has been displayed in photograph exhibits in Jamestown, Buffalo, and Pittsburgh. His images have been used on travel websites and promotional brochures. Images from his collection hang in homes and offices throughout the tri-state area.  He is the chief photographer for High-D Studios, specializing in travel and wedding photography and more of his images can be viewed at HighDStudios.com.

Dan and his wife Barbara live in Jamestown, and have two grown children, Michelle, and Steven.

Open House guests will also enjoy wellness activities and free screenings during the open house including free blood pressure checks, carpal tunnel testing, grip strengthening demonstrations, fall risk assessments, and bone strengthening exercise demonstrations.  Kids and family members alike can play Wii-HAB!  Guests are also invited to sign-up for free speech, hearing and swallowing screenings at the event.

In addition, open house attendees will have a chance to enter a raffle to win a 32” HD LCD Flat Screen Television.  Proceeds from the raffle will benefit the WCA Center For Orthopedics, Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation.  The first 500 guests will receive a free monogrammed tote bag.
