According to the American Academy of Otolaryngology, hearing loss affects one in ten North Americans.  The unique domain of otolaryngologists is the treatment of ear disorders.  They are trained in both the medical and surgical treatment of hearing loss, ear infections, balance disorders, ear noise (tinnitus), and some cranial nerve disorders.

Dr. Carroll explains that the ear is made up of three sections:  the out ear, middle ear and inner ear.  “Each of these areas is susceptible to infections which can be painful,” said Dr. Carroll who is certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology.  “Infection symptoms can include ear pain, hearing loss, ringing, and discharge from the ear.  Our seminar will give attendees a comprehensive overview of the symptoms, treatment, and prevention of ear infections.”

A highly-skilled, experienced surgeon, Dr. Carroll specializes in the surgery of the head and neck.  He received his medical degree from Midwestern University-Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in Chicago, Illinois, and completed a surgical internship at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, before completing his otolaryngology residency at Grandview Hospital and Medical Center, located in Dayton, Ohio.  Dr. Carroll is a physician provider at WCA ENT:  Ear, Nose & Throat Specialists in Jamestown, New York, and ENT Specialists of Northwestern Pennsylvania, located at 3580 Peach Street in Erie, Pennsylvania.  Dr. Carroll has special interest in facial plastic surgery.

Licensed Audiologists at WCA ENT will offer free hearing screenings during the Grand Opening from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m.  Guests can also meet Dr. Carroll and WCA ENT medical staff during the grand opening and take a self-guided tour through the new complex.

The Grand Opening celebration at WCA marks the opening the WCA ENT.  The public will enjoy the Healing Power of Love & Laughter Lucy Desi Exhibit on display during the event.  A collection of never-before-seen artifacts from the Lucy Desi Center for Comedy will adorn the WCA ENT Center.  Lucy Desi Center for Comedy Curator, Alyson Borowczyk, who oversaw the exhibit, says the show will reveal historic works of art that highlight Lucille Ball’s involvement in Jamestown and her participation in community service.  Lucy fans and attendees alike won’t want to miss this incredible unique opportunity to view these one-of-a-kind historic relics.  Guests who attend the event will receive one free admission ticket to the Lucy Desi Center for Comedy which features The Lucy Desi Museum and Desilu Studios.  The attraction is open 7 days a week.

Other grand opening celebratory entertainment will include free sleep screenings, the musical performance of the Jamestown Barbershop Harmony Express quartet, holiday music, and complimentary holiday refreshments and gift give-a-ways.

Otolaryngology is the oldest medical specialty in the United States.  Otolaryngologists are physicians trained in the medical surgical management and treatment of patients with diseases and disorders of the ear, nose, throat (ENT), and related structures of the head and neck.  They are commonly referred to as ENT physicians.  Their special skills include diagnosing and managing diseases of the sinuses, larynx (voice box), oral cavity, and upper pharynx (mouth and throat), as well as structures of the neck and face.  Otolaryngologists diagnose, treat, and manage specialty-specific disorders as well as many primary care problems in both children and adults.
