Jamestown, New York (Saturday, November 30, 2013)—WCA Hospital officials and WCA ear, nose and throat (ENT) Center physicians and staff will host a community Grand Opening, on Thursday, December 5, 2013, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:30, marking the opening of its state-of-the-art ear, nose, and throat center. The new ENT center is located at Jones Memorial Health Center Campus—a division of WCA Hospital, at 51 Glasgow Avenue, Jamestown.  Follow the Open House signs leading to the entrance of the Center.

The event is free and open to the public. Convenient front door event parking is available.  Visit for a map and directions.

Guests can tour the facility as well as meet board-certified otolaryngologist, Dr. Sean Carroll, and the WCA ENT staff members who will be on hand to answer questions about the specialty ear, nose and throat services available at the center.  A special ribbon cutting ceremony marking the grand opening will be held at 3 p.m. outside the main entrance of the center.

“We are excited to host the grand opening of our newest medical service,” said Betsy T. Wright, WCA Hospital President/CEO.  “It is a privilege to provide our residents a full service line of outstanding surgical and nonsurgical ear, nose, and throat care, right here in Jamestown. The grand opening celebration offers guests the opportunity to meet otolaryngologist, Dr. Sean Carroll, and the medical staff and tour our spacious, patient-centered complex.  We encourage one and all to stop by, partake in complementary wellness screenings and enjoy additional celebratory activities that will mark the official opening of our ENT center.”

Guests can take a self-guided tour through the first floor ENT complex that provides otolaryngology specialty services including diagnostic hearing evaluations. The ENT Center brings together a dedicated team of board-certified physicians and medical professionals who provide nonsurgical and surgical ear, nose and throat care for patients of all ages with complete ENT diagnosis, treatment and surgical services.  Board-certified physicians, Sean Carroll, DO, F.O.C.O.O., Sidney P. Lipman, M.D., F.A.C.S., Rick Fornelli, M.D., F.A.C.S. and Ruthann Lipman, DO, have a long tradition of providing expert otolaryngology care and service in the region.  The ear, nose, and throat center also staffs a licensed audiologist who performs hearing evaluations, as well as offering hearing aid services.

The public will also enjoy the Healing Power of Love & Laughter Lucy Desi Exhibit on display during the event.  A collection of never-before-seen artifacts from the Lucy Desi Center for Comedy will adorn the WCA ENT Center.  Lucy Desi Center for Comedy Curator, Alyson Borowczyk, who oversaw the exhibit, says the show will reveal historic works of art that highlight Lucille Ball’s involvement in Jamestown and her participation in community service.  Lucy fans and attendees alike won’t want to miss this incredible unique opportunity to view these one-of-a-kind historic relics.  Guests who attend the event will receive one free admission ticket to the Lucy Desi Center for Comedy which features The Lucy Desi Museum and Desilu Studios.  The attraction is open 7 days a week.

Other grand opening celebratory entertainment will include free hearing and sleep screenings, the musical performance of the Jamestown Barbershop Harmony Express quartet, holiday music, and complimentary holiday refreshments and gift give-a-ways.  Guests are also invited to attend a free community presentation on ear infections at 5:30 p.m. at the WCA ENT Center by otolaryngologist, Dr. Sean Carroll.  Dr. Carroll will discuss symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of ear infections.

The center is beautifully decorated for the event in the holiday spirit compliments, of C Rosiez for Flowers & Gifts located at 607 West Third Street, in the Third Street Plaza.

Otolaryngology is the oldest medical specialty in the United States.  Otolaryngologists are physicians trained in the medical surgical management and treatment of patients with diseases and disorders of the ear, nose, throat (ENT), and related structures of the head and neck.  They are commonly referred to as ENT physicians.  Their special skills include diagnosing and managing diseases of the sinuses, larynx (voice box), oral cavity, and upper pharynx (mouth and throat), as well as structures of the neck and face.  Otolaryngologists diagnose, treat, and manage specialty-specific disorders as well as many primary care problems in both children and adults.

To schedule an appointment at the new WCA ENT Center, call (716) 664-8515.  The medical practice is open to physician referral and patient self-referral as well.  Most major insurances are accepted.  Convenient front-door patient parking is available.
