Jamestown, NY (Tuesday, April 1, 2014)—For more than a century, Crèche has raised significant funding in order to provide for the needs of children in Chautauqua County. Each year, the Crèche Hospital Committee helps fulfill wishes from child-related departments at WCA Hospital. Crèche recently made a $2,312 donation to WCA Hospital which enabled the non-profit organization to make several purchases from their “Wish List” that will directly benefit children and their families served by WCA.

Ten departments at WCA Hospital which directly serve children benefited from this gift, including Adolescent Mental Health (stereo system with iPod dock, board games and decks of cards), Cardiology (television, Blu Ray/DVD player and DVD’s), Emergency Department (stickers and children’s band aids), Maternity (transilluminators to start IV’s), Nutrition Services (healthy eating educational materials), Pediatrics (pediatric stethoscopes), Psychology (toys and stability ball), Radiology (stickers), Recreational Therapy (games, crafts and exercise materials), and Speech & Hearing (adolescent speech aides).

“It is so rewarding to see the hard work and dedication of the Crèche volunteers result in tangible expressions of love and compassionate care at WCA Hospital,” said Patricia Phillips, Crèche Hospital Committee Chair. “We are so privileged to stand beside WCA to enhance the care provided to the children of our community.”

“The purchase of the stethoscopes for our Pediatrics patients is a tremendous asset and the perfect example of Crèche’s generosity,” said Mary Sue Pawlak, Pediatrics Nurse Manager. “These uniquely-designed stethoscopes enable our nursing staff to better hear and assess heart and lung sounds in our young patients.”
