LINKS Charity Logo Jamestown, New York (Friday, February 28, 2014)—LINKS Charity is looking forward to another ambitious calendar of events and activities. Beginning with the 23rd annual LINKS LPGA Golf Pro-Am, “LINKing Together” Banquet & Auction, and LINKS Charity Golf Scramble on July 28th and 29th at Moon Brook Country Club, and finishing with the 4th annual “LINKS Pink Walk” on October 4th at the Chautauqua Mall, 2014 should prove to be another banner year for LINKS Charity.

Spearheaded by lead sponsor Truck-Lite and major sponsors Cummins, United Refining Company, ALSTAR EMS and The Bilicki Law Firm, along with associate sponsors Northwest Insurance Services and Jamestown Savings Bank, LINKS Charity announced that for a second straight year, in 2013, it raised $100,000 while surpassing the $1 million mark. This was the second year of LINKS Charity’s three-year, $300,000 pledge toward the purchase of 3-D Breast Tomosynthesis to aid in the diagnosis of breast cancer at WCA Hospital. In total, LINKS Charity has now raised $1,078,000 toward enhancing local cancer care efforts.

“It was an historic year for us to surpass $1 million,” says Brad Van Riper, Senior Vice President for Truck-Lite and Executive Director for LINKS Charity. “However, we are more committed than ever to surpassing our goal of funding 3-D Breast Tomosynthesis at WCA Hospital, and remain confident that our donors and community will support us in our fight against breast cancer.”

“We are so thankful to the sponsors and organizers of LINKS Charity for their outstanding commitment,” says Lyndon Gritters, Chair of Radiology and Lead Interpreting Physician for Breast Imaging at WCA Hospital. “Their dedication continues to enable our community hospital to stay on the cutting edge of technology, resulting in earlier detection of breast cancer and in lives saved.”

LINKS Charity, established in 1991, was co-founded by Mary Blair and Sondra Anderson. Their commitment and passion along with many benevolent volunteers, including Allen Short, Executive Director for the first nineteen years, has been remarkable. LINKS Charity continues in its mission to link the community, business, and industry together to enhance local cancer care at WCA Hospital.
