SOUPer Bowl Sunday Moves to Lakewood Rod & Gun
Charity Event to Feature Homemade Soups from Local Restaurants & Benefit WCA

SOUPer Bowl Sunday will feature homemade soups from several local restaurants/caterers and those attending will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite.

Jamestown, NY (Monday, January 13, 2014)—On Sunday, January 26th, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m., Media One Group, Maplevale Farms, and WCA Hospital will host SOUPer Bowl Sunday III, featuring homemade soups created and served by several local restaurants and caterers. SOUPer Bowl Sunday will move to a new location this year, the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club (433 E. Terrace Avenue, Lakewood, NY).

“We are excited and honored to partner with the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, Maplevale Farms, and WCA Hospital to host this great event and showcase some fantastic local restaurants,” says Jim Yezzi, General Sales Manager for the Media One Group. “This charity event emphasizes our commitment to improving access to the highest quality of local surgical care.”

An expected 15-20 area restaurants and caterers are donating their time and talents to create homemade soups which will be sampled by all those attending who will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite. Participants will include the winner of SOUPer Bowl II - Elegant Edibles (Chicken Wing Soup) and the winner of SOUPer Bowl I - Gametime Sports Bar & Grill, as well as Cibo, Ashville General Store, Phil-N-Cindy’s Lunch, Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop, Bob Evans, Forte, Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, La Scala, Scallion Bistro, and The Landmark.

“The first two years, the variety and quality of soups available at this family-friendly event has been absolutely amazing,” says Karl Sisson, WCA Director of Development. “Our community is once again demonstrating its outstanding commitment to enhancing the technology and care available at our community hospital.”

In addition to the soups, SOUPer Bowl Sunday III will feature music from DJ’s Unlimited and an outstanding benefit basket raffle featuring items donated by local businesses.

All of the proceeds from this year’s SOUPer Bowl Sunday will benefit Robotic Surgery at WCA Hospital. In its first two years, this charitable event raised over $8,000 to support the construction of WCA Hospital’s new Emergency Department.

Pre-sale tickets ($10 for adults and $5 for children under 12) are available at the WCA Office of Development at (716-664-8423) and Lakewood Rod & Gun Club (716-763-3955). Tickets will also be available at the door ($12 for adults and $6 for children under 12). The first 300 people through the door will receive a complimentary soup mug courtesy of event sponsor Maplevale Farms.
