J.C.C. Nursing Students Provide A Helping Hand at WCA Diabetes Event, November 3

Jamestown, New York (Monday, October 26, 2015)— Photo Release: The Jamestown Community College (J.C.C.) nursing students enrolled in the registered nursing program at J.C.C., will provide a helping hand during the WCA Hospital Diabetes event, VOTE YES For Good Diabetes Health, Tuesday, November 3rd, from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at WCA Hospital, 207 Foote Avenue.  Picture from left, front row, nursing students Haley Stevens, Jacqueline Osei Asibey, Jaclyn Denzel, Riley Brumagin, Rachael Hummerich, Lindsay Maher, and Mariah Battle.  Second row from left, Nichole Chase, Ryan Roush, and Dawn Babbage, MS, RN, CNE, Associate Professor, Nursing at Jamestown Community College.  Babbage says, “The hospital event is a unique hands-on learning experience for our students and gives them an opportunity to give back to the people of our community.”  The diabetes health event will include free blood pressure checks, free foot screening, cooking and tasting demonstrations, free fall risk assessments by the WCA physical therapy team, grip testing conducted by WCA Occupational Therapy, snacks, and giveaways.  The Jamestown YMCA exercise staff will present simple and easy exercise demonstrations.  Individuals are invited to take the type 2 diabetes risk test and register for the 16-week free workshop during the event and take home resources that help residents prevent or manage diabetes.  See the very latest in insulin pumps, glucose monitors, and treatments and meet WCA diabetes education team.  Guests can enter to win a sugar free gift tower door prize.  First 200 guests receive a free personalized tote bag!  For more information, call Linda Johnson at WCA Hospital at (716) 664-8614 or visit
