We Treat All Types of Diabetes

The Diabetes Center at UPMC Chautauqua offers support, education, and complete care for people with:

  • Type 1 diabetes. Also called insulin-dependent diabetes, this is the type of diabetes that usually starts in childhood.
  • Type 2 diabetes. This type of diabetes mostly starts in adulthood. People who are overweight are at higher risk.
  • Prediabetes. If your blood sugar is higher than it should be — but not high enough to be diabetes — you have prediabetes. It puts you more at risk for type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
  • Gestational diabetes. Some women get diabetes during pregnancy, which puts both baby and mother at risk.
